We are putting effort into reducing not only our packaging waste but the waste we generate operationally. Our individual sites have been doing so by setting up worm farms and sourcing milk in bulk or packaged in plastic alternatives.
We adhere to customer preferences for communication to eliminate post for those that prefer email. Publications such as our quarterly magazine Ground Effect are wrapped in a compostable wrap with compostable labels and the annual report is sent on request only. Merchandise is ordered without plastic wrap.
Sustainability, and waste reduction specifically, is a priority during the organisation of the large events that Ravensdown is involved in such as the Christchurch A&P show and Mystery Creek Fieldays. Events such as these are expected to operate a three-stream waste management system, an online registration process and use either stainless steel and glass or compostable cutlery and crockery, which has been noticed and appreciated by customers.
