Ravensdown’s sponsorship and volunteering programmes benefit many community groups and rural individuals. All staff are granted an additional day of leave per year to be spent contributing to a community project or cause that is meaningful to them.
Over the past two years, Lend a Hand day has resulted in over 500 hours of assistance to 30 community groups of a wide range. Some teams choose to make this a team exercise. This included cooking dinner for families at Ronald McDonald House, restoration of the Lyttelton Port Saddle habitat and planting thousands of native trees as part of Te Ara Kakariki’s ‘Greendots’ programme to bring biodiversity back to the Canterbury Plains.
If you have a community group or a planting project that needs assistance, ask your local Ravensdown site about Lend a Hand day.
Rural communities receive Ravensdown sponsorship support valued at approximately a quarter of a million dollars every year. The support is provided through our eight regional sales teams, our store network, works facilities and lime quarries. These teams choose to support community organisations running projects for schools, sports or events to bring the community together.
