Lincoln University researchers working alongside Ravensdown have discovered that a naturally occurring microbe could help substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and the loss of nitrogen to waterways.

Dr Nick Cradock-Henry did his PhD on climate change adaptation in the Bay of Plenty. He now spends a fair bit of time visiting regional New Zealand helping plan ways to adapt to climate change, leading a four-year MPI-funded project ‘Adaptation Pathways’. Since September, he has worked for GNS Science as principal scientist.

New government regulations for intensive winter grazing come into effect on 1 November 2022. These were initiated to mitigate the effect of land use on groundwater and freshwater bodies such as lakes, rivers and streams.
