Important Information

  • BENEFITS

Used to alleviate deficiencies commonly found in Northland, the West Coast and in peat soils

Applied to soils or as a foliar application for cereal production where a history of Manganese deficiency exists

Provides manganese to the crop immediately because it is readily soluble

Manganese sulphate is readily soluble thus will provide manganese to the crop immediately.

  • USES

Manganese Sulphate supplies manganese, which is used to alleviate manganese deficiencies. These are most common in Northland, on the West Coast of the South Island and in peat soils.

Manganese sulphate is also applied to soils or as a foliar application for cereal production where a history of Mn deficiency exists. If applied as a foliar, ensure Manganese Sulphate Soluble is requested.

Plants use manganese (Mn) for enzyme activity involved in carbohydrate metabolism. They also use it for making fatty acids in evergy transfers during photosysthesis.

In animals, manganese is used for the synthesis of bone and teeth, steriod hormones, glucose synthesis and utilisation.

  • APPLICATION

Typical soil application rates for manganese sulphate are 15kg/ha, however in some highly deficient situations rates of up to 25kg/ha may be required.

For foliar applications to cereal crops, apply Manganese Sulphate Soluble at 8-10 kg/ha, dissolved in 200 litres of water. Include a wetting agent (Agriwett 77) for improved spread on foliage. For crops with visual Mn deficiencies, it is advisable to apply 2 applications, 3 weeks apart.

  • STORAGE

Bags should be tightly sealed and stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
