Important Information

  • BENEFITS

Suitable for pastoral, arable and horticultural applications

Cost-effective source of magnesium where large amounts are required

Maintain or increase soil pasture magnesium levels, both for plant and animal requirements

Magnesium Oxide is a cost-effective source of magnesium where large amounts are required.

Availability of the magnesium from this product will rely on soil acidity because Magnesium Oxide slowly dissolves through reactions with hydrogen (acid) ions in the soil.  The rate of dissolution will depend on particle size, the finer the particle, the faster it will dissolve.  The Magnesium content will become plant available within 6 months of application in most conditions.
  • USES

This high analysis fertiliser is suitable for pastoral, arable and horticultural applications.

Magnesium Oxide is used to maintain or increase soil magnesium levels and pasture magnesium levels, both for plant and animal magnesium requirements.  Its use can reduce the need and amount of direct animal Magnesium supplementation as well as reducing animal losses from hypomagnesaemia.  However it may not always supply enough magnesium for animal requirements in the spring,so supplementation should be considered.
  • APPLICATION

Rates of application are typically up to 60kg/ha (24kg Mg/ha) as a maintenance dressing, or up to 200kg/ha as capital inputs.

Actual spreading rates will vary according to farm type, climate, productivity, soil type and crop type.  Soil testing and fertiliser plans are available to ensure you use the right product at the correct rate.  Call our Customer Centre for information.
As with most solid fertilisers, Magnesium Oxide can be stored over a season as long as it is kept in a cool, dry, well ventilated area.
