Renewed focus on agronomy starts with new role

Ravensdown has started the recruitment process for a new senior role of National Agronomy Manager as part of a move to enhance the co-operative’s service in seeds, agrichemicals and agronomic advice.

The new role will lead a dedicated nationwide team of agronomists and will focus on shareholders’ product needs.

Ravensdown entered the agchem market in 2003 and took a cornerstone shareholding in Cropmark Seeds in 2011.

The connection to farm nutrient and environmental expertise is strong according to Bryan Inch General Manager Customer Relationships. “Farmers don’t want to provide the right nutrients and growing conditions only for weeds and pests to benefit from that investment of time and money. And after getting the soil right, productive feed depends on the seeds sown – often at the same time as the fertiliser is applied.”

“There’s plenty of potential for growth in the agronomy business and we’ve rearranged the way our reporting lines are set up to allow that devoted focus from a network of specialists,” added Bryan.
