New and exclusive, Raider NEA2 is high-yielding diploid perennial ryegrass selected for both its high performance and its superior persistence under trying farming conditions.

In Waikato, one of the most difficult areas in New Zealand for persistence, Raider proved itself a top performer with the highest ground cover score of the 28 cultivars at the end of the trial.

It also scored a solid place in the top five for dry matter yield and among the top three in pulling tests.

Insect Resistance

The NEA2 endophyte is suitable for farming systems throughout New Zealand. High levels of peramine and low levels of ergovaline which provides increased protection from adult black beetle, pasture mealy bug and Argentine stem weevil, without the risk of ryegrass staggers in stock.

Quality Feed

As a late heading (+18 days) ryegrass, Raider provides excellent dry matter production and quality feed in late spring or summer.

To get the best out of Raider, first graze should be light and fast after a successful pull test which is simulating the grazing action and literally pulling at the tillers. This is usually around the 3rd leaf stage. A post emerge herbicide is essential before the first grazing to control any broadleaf weeds. Using clover friendly herbicides like Pasture Guard Bentazone, Aim or Pasture Guard Nurture will control most seedling broadleaf weeds in young pastures without harming clovers. This will set your perennial pastures up for many years. In dryland areas plant no later than mid-March. This gives the young pasture time to establish before ground temperatures get to cold.

Raider can be mixed with clovers such as Demand medium leaf white clover, Mantra large leaf clover as well as Reaper red clover for added quality and production.
